Judge Chin has today granted a short extension in the Google Settlement case which will allow The Authors Guild and Google to finalize a new agreement by this Friday, November, 13th. No substantive reason was given by the court to allow the extension until the end of this week, but lawyers for Google did argue that they had been in discussions with the US Department of Justice as recently as last Friday.
